Community Paramedics Bring Mental Health Support to Rural Texas, but Funding Is a Challenge

July 9, 2025 – The Meadows Institute was featured in Public Health Watch in an article about community health paramedic teams’ response to emergent mental health crises in rural Texas communities.

Executive Vice President for Health and Public Safety B.J. Wagner was quoted in the piece, stating, “The benefit to the person in need of care is that no matter how volatile or how unpredictable or how disruptive their health care emergency is, they can have something besides the cops delivering that care.”
